Pricing & Quotes

The Designer Net pricing of our furniture and lighting products are in US dollars, and are subject to change without notice. All orders are subject to current pricing in effect at the time the order is placed. Prices do not include packing, crating, shipping, taxes or installation. 

We will honor pricing for written quotations (including custom projects) for thirty (30) days from the date of quotation, regardless of a subsequent pricing increase.

 

Payment Terms

A 50% deposit is required before an order is placed into our production schedule. Deposits are non-refundable. 

All payments are received and processed at Matthew Fairbank Design, 617 Van Sinderen Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11207.

Final payment is due prior to release of an order for shipment and subsequent delivery.

 

Payment Methods

We accept domestic payment by ACH, check, credit card (Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express), Paypal and Zelle. Service fees may apply.

We accept international payment by bank wire. All transfer fees are the responsibility of the purchaser.

 

Lead Times

Our standard lead time is 16 weeks.

All orders are received, acknowledged and invoiced by Matthew Fairbank Design. To initiate an order, a 50% deposit must be received and purchase order must be provided. For a piece to enter into production, all samples, cuttings and drawings must be approved. Lead times will be delayed if all approvals are not received in writing.

Prior to scheduling shipment, orders must be paid in full, including any and all packing, shipping, storage, applicable taxes and service charges that are included on the final balance due invoice. Final payment must be received and delivery arranged within 14 days of completion notification. If payment is not received within this time frame, the buyer agrees to pay storage fees assessed on the unpaid balance.

 

Specifications 

All drawings, dimensions, samples, descriptive matter, and technical specifications are intended as a guide only. Matthew Fairbank Design reserves the right to change, alter or modify the design, dimensions, construction, or cost of any item without prior written notice.

 

Shipping

By request, an estimated shipping quote will be provided outlining any required packaging, crating and transit costs. All shipments are F.O.B. our studio in Brooklyn, NY. Matthew Fairbank Design will arrange product shipments on behalf of the client unless an alternative shipping arrangement is specified. Some smaller lighting fixtures are eligible for standard ground shipment, but most larger and fragile items will require custom crating and freight handling.

Customer pickup directly from our studio is not permitted. However, some pickups may be made from designated, New York City, off-site storage facilities. There will be transfer fees charged for direct pickup, dependent on the product and its location.

Once an order is dispatched and tracking number(s) emailed, it is the purchaser's responsibility to track the item online and ensure there are no delays incurred in transit, or delivery appointment which needs to be scheduled.

 

Delivery

All deliveries will be made via the carrier of our choice, unless instructed in writing to use a specific carrier. Special handling requests, such as white glove or trash removal services, are subject to additional fees.

 

International Customers

Special handling requests are subject to additional fees. Any local taxes, VAT or duties billed by customs are the full responsibility of the purchaser.

 

Damaged Goods

All items are carefully inspected and packaged prior to shipment. If upon receiving your new item you discover a defect, please contact us immediately and we will work with you to fix the problem. Damages must be documented and reported within 48 hours of receipt. We cannot be held responsible for any damages reported after the 48 hour window. In the case that damage occurred during shipment, packaging must be retained, and damages photo-documented in order for the claim to be successfully processed. If you are not happy with your purchase for other reasons, please let us know why. We stand behind all our products and will work with you to determine the best solution.

 

Installation

Our pieces are designed to be easily installed by an electrician. Most fixtures ship pre-assembled. Fixtures which require additional assembly have instructions included. Gloves (where provided) should be worn when handling fixtures and their components. Hardware to install fixtures is always the responsibility of an electrician or licensed installer. We are available to provide some (but not all) advice to assist with best practices.

 

Return Policy

Due to the custom, made-to-order nature of our work, we do not accept returns or offer exchanges. Once an order is placed, changes and cancellations will not be permitted.

 

We are not responsible for

Damage caused by improper cleaning solutions or methods.
Damage caused by improper installation or assembly by the customer or installer. 
Damage caused by improper use of lightbulbs. 
Damages caused by exposure to weather or an improper environment. 
Changes in the appearance of the hand-applied finishes or fading of natural materials. 
Any costs of installation, removal or re-installation.
Restoration or repair work.

 

Materials

We put great care into making each of our products. Our wood and metal finishes are applied by hand and may vary slightly in color, tone, and character. Exposure to light can change the appearance of a material over time, and we cannot guarantee against fading or oxidizing. We seal our materials with a protective layer to preserve their appearance over time.  

Natural materials such as stone, leather, and wood have unique characteristics and may therefore vary from what is represented on our website, physical samples, or in our photography.

 

Care & Maintenance

All products should be cared for with instructions applicable to that product. Failure to do so may void product warranty.

 

Warranty

Matthew Fairbank Design warrants its products to be free of defects in workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage or breakage resulting from misuse, accidents, abuse, neglect, mishandling or wear resulting from normal use. Defective product will be repaired or replaced at Matthew Fairbank Design’s discretion. Our warranty extends to products purchased only by the original purchaser.

We protect and defend our copyrighted and trademarked works, including, but not limited to, drawings, photographs, text, website, marketing materials, packaging, products, and designs. Unauthorized use of our copyrighted and trademarked materials is strictly prohibited.
